Why Should You Get Invisalign?

Why Should You Get Invisalign?

In case you want to get Invisalign, it is recommended to do a general research about it and what to expect after the procedure. If you want to get the results you want, you should remember:

  • To put on the aligner trays each day for at least 20 hours

  • To brush twice or floss as you wish but around the teeth and not around the brackets

  • Clean the aligner trays everyday using lukewarm water or using their cleaning kit

  • The trays should be changed after two weeks

  • Keep up your appointment with your dentist after every 6 weeks

This will be needed only during the short period of the treatment where teeth straightening is required for achieving a brighter smile with a healthier mouth. After getting Invisalign, you may get a lisp in the first few days since you will have to get used to having something new in your mouth. You will also feel sore for some days after the installation of the aligner tray.

However, many people choose Invisalign over braces for many reasons. In case you want to get Invisalign over braces, invisalign:

  • Is able to straighten the teeth without anybody even knowing that you are undergoing a treatment

  • You can eat anything you like except gum; as long as you remove the trays first

  • You can smile without worrying that there may be food particles stuck in the brackets

  • You can play any sport you like without worrying that the wire brackets may injure you

Since Invisalign may not work in all cases, you should contact your dentist to obtain a professional opinion if that is the right choice for you.

Most people are not sure of what to choose when it comes to Invisalign and braces for straightening their teeth. Both have been designed to straighten out teeth and to improve oral health and smile. Braces have been in use longer than Invisalign that has been in use since 2000. Braces use metal brackets that are glued together and they are tied together with wires and tiny rubber bands. Now some braces are made in enamel color so that they can be discrete or they can be in any color to use them as a fashion statement. Invisalign is made to be invisible and they are made using comfortable, smooth and clear plastic.

What is a Dental Bridge?

What is a Dental Bridge?

Grand Rapids tooth bridge is a restorative option available for someone who wants to replace missing teeth. From its name, a dental bridge is meant to bridge a gap which is caused by the loss of tooth. A dental appliance has three components, two crowns found at each end and an appliance that serves like an anchorage or abutment on the healthy adjacent teeth found next to a gap while a middle crown serves as a false tooth or a pontic. When the teeth around are not healthy to hold a bridge, then a dental implant has to be used. A dental bridge has to be fixed and an abutment crown has to be cemented on healthy teeth or on a dental implant. A bridge can be made using many materials like silver or gold, porcelain fused into a metal or porcelain.

You will be required to visit the dentist two times before the bridge can be completed. During the first dental visit, your dentist will inject a local anesthetic in the tooth that will be used as an abutment so that the procedure can be comfortable. Healthy teeth which serve like abutment may be prepared through resizing and reshaping so that they can accommodate the crowns better in order to hold a pontic in their place. A dental impression of the abutment is made and it is sent to a dental laboratory where a custom-fit dental bridge will be made. A temporary bridge is then placed in order to protect and prepare an abutment. With the second visit, the temporary bridge is then removed and replaced with the custom fit bridge which is then adjusted to ensure a proper fitting. When the fitting is right, it will then be cemented in place permanently.

When you use a dental bridge, it will:

  • Replace a missing tooth

  • Restore function of teeth such as speaking and chewing properly

  • Prevent remaining teeth to shift and it does not cause any problem with the bite

  • Reduce bone loss risks since it maintains the face structure

  • Bridges are fixed permanently and this prevents any movement of dentures.
