If you repeat the same motion, again and again, there is a risk of bursitis (ellipses). Sometimes, excessive injury to joints, tendons, and muscles results in injury. The disease can develop in athletes or physically active such as runners and swimmers. People with tight hip flexor muscles may have bursitis (iliopsoas), as this increases pressure. This pressure produces friction or wears between the tendon and the bursa.
Arthritic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis play an important role in bursitis (iliopsoas). Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system accidentally damages joints. This damage causes swelling in the joints.
