It seems from your question as if you are very afraid of depression and consider it as some kind of prohibition.
Let me tell you that it is not unnatural to have depression, in fact, all types of living species fall into depression due to various reasons. This is a fact, and you can hardly change it. However, what you can work on is the way you deal with it and overcome it. Depression is all we experience once in our lifetime. Some of us are able to cope with it and some are victims of it. This is one of the most difficult problems, affecting our hyperconnected society.
My advice is to be more focused on depression as to what can be done about it than preventive. Yes, it is definitely possible to overcome depression and win.
I think the best answer I have seen regarding this subject so far is from Miss Lavanya and she says that in her opinion, you should focus on:
i) Keeping yourself busy with some work-related activities,
ii) Your hobbies like listening to music, writing, reading, etc.
iii) Travel with dear people,
iv) Exercise daily,
v) Eat healthy and non-junk food
